Poetry Performances
Amoah sincerely believes poetry is a powerful tool that when utilized correctly (whether on the page or stage) can lead to transformation, challenge thinking, solace, self-expression, community-building, inspiration, and—at its highest–-can catalyze change. When performed, poetry often impacts an audience on a different and deeper level which can effect and pervade an audience’s collective consciousness viscerally, immediately, and profoundly. Amoah carries with her an extensive amount of experience performing (link to “my story”) and intimately understands its unique function and purpose. No venue is off limits. Book her for a local theatre, venue or stage. A church, community center or a university. An organized gathering at a more personal space such as your home or co-working space works as well, too.
Workshops
As a published and performance poet, Amoah values both mediums equally. And she knows first hand that it can take hard work (but not impossible work!) and much time spent before one is ready for the stage. Amoah has lectured and delivered motivational speeches at many venues (a service also offered; see above), allowing her to instill confidence in workshop participants. Both creative writing and performance helped foster Amoah’s confidence and she is committed to passing this vehicle of higher self esteem onto others. It is normal to experience anxiety when it comes to getting up on a stage – big or small – and Amoah, who has an eloquent and seamless performance style, can help an individual or group learn techniques that will improve public speaking, creative writing, confidence-building, and speech coaching. She is flexible with workshop size (and even offers one on one personal classes) so please inquire within.
Creative Writing Curriculum Creation and/or Consultation
Along with poetry and performance, Amoah has dedicated her time and spirit to teaching. She considers herself a teaching artist, specifically specializing in creative writing. Given her time spent studying at a high level (she received a MFA in 2019 from The New School in poetry) and teaching within the educational system (link to “my story”) Amoah understands the importance of an intentional and well curated creative writing curriculum (representation, diversity, and range for starters.) She can either create a curriculum for you (whether you’re a teacher at an institution, or a teacher working on a smaller scale, or even just for yourself) or offer consultation on how to construct a balanced and thoughtful curriculum.
Motivational Speaking / Keynote Speaking
Amoah has garnered many opportunities to speak and address crowds of varying demographics and sizes over the span of her career. Since 2006, she has delivered keynote speeches at competitive venues and stages. Let yours be next! Whether a conference, art fair, residency, university, or local venue, Amoah is confident her mastery of public speaking can provide your event with an advantage. Voiceovers
Given the time Amoah has spent honing and using her voice (whether performing poems, or delivering motivation and/or keynote speeches), naturally she has developed her voice as an instrument. Do you need her to narrate or read your work for you? Remotely, through pre-recordings, or in person? She can do that. She’s also eager to collaborate and is open to experimenting with overlaying her words with, say, your video installations, or can create an audio accompaniment for pieces in a gallery show. Or, think of her as a personal Audible narrator for you. She’s trained, and possesses a range in tone, cadence, rhythm and vocality. Book her now!
